Overall yea some pets aren't that great. Unfortunately I haven't seen a good yeti yet. Some pets with the right perks and growth vhance are amazing though. For example I had got a greater feral dog (isle of siptah) strength 75 ( base +perks). Gave him a crazy 750% bonus melee damage.

But I think I got extremely good luck with them. My greater bears aren't coming out as nice as the jungle claws. In fact I feel they were a waste of fish and honey. I haven't leveled my greater sabertooth yet. After 14 cubs I've only gotten one.
