It works. Lately I've been trying many different sets and play styles, medium, heavy, fury, spriggans, new moon, seventh, you name it. Past few weeks I have been using new moon and ancient dragon guard sitting at 6.4k wep dmg and high resistances, high crit. Try it for your self. For lowbie this is probably the strongest setup you can go with.
