I'm convinced Infection severity is affected by wound severity. deep wounds and presumably gunshot wonds, and lacerations are going to affect you a lot more when infected. Alternately, multiple smaller infections does the trick as well. Infection deaths take a while and the infection really has to set in and become a problem.

Don't think it will heal. Thread is easy to get, needle is RNG/ambulance/car dependent. You gotta stitch. I spent a week and some change chugging canned goods and sitting on the floor of the ranger outpost. Only solution is to get some twine and a needle and stitch that fugger up.
