Having said that, given the multiple environments that G3's were used in it is surprising they have the reputation for reliability that they have: jungles, deserts, temperate as well as cold climates.The extended handguard made it more comfortable to reach out and control the barrel. The long barrel is not ideal but I can see it helping oppressed people getting their hands on roller lock goodness. The HK SP5L retails for around $2900. If you're installing a 3-lug mp5 barrel, rotate the barrel 120 degrees from the original slot, press it in, then redrill a new hole. If you're doing a 93 or 91 barrel, you could go 120 degrees, or 180 degrees. Before drilling the new hole, you have to start it with an endmill so the hole isn't starting on a curved surface.
