I have in the meantime replace the battery and the alternator. It still gives me the message. Pretty disappointing. I'm thinking there is something in the fuse... This may be the result of a cut in the stator winding that is caused from a high RPM, usually because the engine hit the rev limiter. The internal fan is flexing and when ... C0161 indicates an issue with the brake pedal position sensor, however, if you have that code the systems should remain functional. The IPM supplies a 5V reference to the brake pedal position sensor and could along with other things be the source of the C0161 but more than likely this code isn't the source of your Service Messages.
