For simple vs crystal, you consistently get 20-45 less AR out of simple, so you'll want one of the weapons with only ~20 less AR between infusions if you can find one. 1.Dark Souls; Offhanding the Estoc; localizedfreedo 11 years ago #1. In the main the Longsword is prized for speed and moveset while the Estoc's primary strength over other thrusting swords is that it has attacks that are not thrust. i have 60/36 int\fth with 16/16 str/dex and i've been using the rapier/estoc like crazy. I used the enchanted my rapier, and honestly the damage increase as been pretty nice, but it's almost the same. maybe at most, 50-100ish damage more per stab. BUT with a simple infusion the RAPIER AND ESTOC HAVE THE SAME SCALING. So if you're building a magic user go for the estoc and if you're going for faith or flat dex go with the rapier. Hope this helps you out.

It's usually 14/16 str 40 dex/45 str or 27/28 str 40/45 dex for a quality. Or 40/40. That said, if you just wanna use the estoc, base str is perfect, as that e contributes nothing. Katanas in Dark Souls are some of the best dex-centric weapons, and the Iaito (e-AH-toe) is one of them. It can apply bleed to enemies at a good rate. The winged spear has better damage and range. Estoc, on the other hand, sacrifices outright damage for speed, 2 types of attack and better crits. I like both equally, and would be happy to drop one now so I can focus on the other. Which weapon will take me further in the game? The extra range on Estoc can be really nice for spacing compared to Rapier. Also, the Estoc I believe has shield splitter, great for damaging through the shield of your opponent. The crits wont be as good, but I think thats okay, you dont go either of these weapons specifically for crit playstyle. 6. Reply.

As far as stats go, I'd say 15 Int for buffs, 12 or 14 Att depending on how many spell slots you want. Then pump the rest into dex, vit, and end.For Dark Souls on the Xbox 360, a GameFAQs message board topic titled "Leo + Estoc".Estoc consumes A LOT of stamina and isn't very strong, what's good is the moveset. Ropera is a stronger Rapier with oki stamina cost and high requirements, good base damage, ideal for infusions. Ricard's is bad for infusions though and elemental damage >> pure physical I feel its R2 is wasted Ropera needs better movesets.

Estoc isn't as good as it used to be bit it's still decent. Pontiff curved sword is really good and doesn't need infusion. It's an absolutely top tier weapon on a quality build. I still can reroll the class, im not too far into the game).Parrying is a technique where you deflect an enemy attack, leaving the enemy in a special staggered state, vulnerable to ripostes. Parrying is a technique usable against most humanoid enemies in Dark Souls. It requires some amount of studying enemy attack behaviour, but learning it will provide the player with an advantage in numerous situations.estoc=bestoc :: DARK SOULS™ III Allgemeine Diskussionen ... titleComboing makes all the difference between a casual Estoc user and a master. You can kill newbies with R1's for sure, but against a good player you just get parried. Play cleverly. I'd say Ricard's Rapier is better, but even harder to use. Crow quills have the best critical dmg and scaling of dex thrusting swords.

Quick bleed damage, high speed, high backstab damage are their main draw. May not be the highest backstab damage compared to rapiers, but, still pretty damn high. A +5 lightning Bandit's Dagger and +5 Lightning Estoc backstab for about the same damage, and riposte for around the same damage, even though the estoc has about 100~ more AR.

Estoc is one of those weapons that shines specifically against human enemies, because of its reach and poking. Against normal enemies, however (specially poise mobs) it sucks ass. It's kinda the oposite of RKPGS, which rocks many enemies but sucks vs a competent player. 1.Its a heavily underrated weapon but with an incredibly monstrous range, also great for punishing and putting the pressure on, just careful with those backstabbers so mixing it with a sweep weapon or the force miracle is a must. EWGF 12 years ago #8. Ricard's Rapier is faster. Estoc has higher damage and greater length.

As an old man once said - "Estoc is Bestoc". Rapier is only better for critfishing and if you're doing pve you might as well critfish with dagger. rapier-can parry and weights less, but has shorter range and bounces off shields and people with perseverance. estoc-better range, better damage, doesnt bounce off.
