The car, purchased 5/31/11 and with 46K miles now, has stranded my wife away from home, for the second time in less than three years (sigh). With no warning, car would not stay running for even one second after starting, while sitting in a shopping center parking lot.1) To find why the engine won't start, remove the air inlet tube from the throttle body, push the throttle open and spray a small amount of aerosol starting fluid into the engine. Crank the engine. If it has spark and compression but NO FUEL, it will start and run a few seconds before dying.First and MOST IMPORTANT- UNPLUG THE GLOW PLUG AND INTAKE HEATER CONTROL CONNECTOR. Then take the air filter out, and with your helper, have them crank the engine. Spray only a 0.5 second spray into the housing, again only when cranking. See what happens.
