You have to buy the $99 parts kit (the one in the link OP provided) if you don’t buy a JAKL lower or lower kit.
The base TRIAD chassis is compatible with the BRN-180, Foxtrot Mikes, and JAK'L upper receivers however there are differences with each upper that require some specific components. For instance, the Foxtrot Mikes upper and the JAK'L upper require completely different buffers to function correctly, so we have specific buffers for each kit.
