So if you think you can spam towers on one side of your blighted map and hold the other side yourself, that will actually not work at all. They aren't particularly rare, you just don't find them unless you take the atlas passive that allows them to drop. When I did blight this league, I got approximately 1 in every 5 maps. I get more opalescent, silver and golden oils from extractors than natural drops in maps, and I got enough from them to not have to bother with blighted maps.
