It was sold in vehicles from 1974 to 1991. Honestly, the mercedes OM617 is a better engine than the 6.2/6.5 and will return better fuel economy. In fact any diesel engine you could get from anywhere would be better. Cummins, perkins, cat, Isuzu, mitsubishi, toyota, hino, duramax, mercedes, nissan, VW etc. I believe you're better to stick to petrol V8's than waste time and effort on a 6. ...LOTS of cutting and fitting but maybe it's an easier fit in a Ranger. The exhaust is pretty simple - just a pipe out of the engine bay. The first section of the Mercedes pipe will make the exhaust work easier. I know that I can make the adapters to bolt it to the Toyota w-56 5spd, my question is how reliable of a power plant would this be for a little truck.
