It will hurt nothing to use that pump in your tractor as long as long as it's a 10 tooth to match the wd45 cam. It must be because it was already in there. I replaced the rear-main seal/timing cover oil pan gasket on a WD 45 226 engine not to long ago. Did the job on the engine stand. what I did was pull the main caps and raise the rotating assembly as a unit so I could get to that half of the rear seal.
